Well, gaudy really definitely isn't my taste, so I can tell you that you're definitely safe there.

[ rip her carefully done braid, which has really frayed a bunch, but at least it's drying out.

she reaches over to comb her hand through his hair, meanwhile, trying to be gentle enough not to startle while he's driving. ]

[he keeps his eyes on the road but tilts his head back, clearly pleased. if he could purr like a cat, he would.

soon, they've arrived, and he parks the car. with his hands free he's going to lean over and comb his fingers through her hair, to undo the tangles from the ride]

I see I should have warned you what I had planned...

[ she makes a quiet, content hum as he fixes her hair, and tugs the tie out of the braid for good measure. ]

Well. It's, er... a fun surprise, anyway.

[gently petting her hair once it's less tangled, and lets his hands fall to her shoulders, not saying anything for a moment--just admiring her, unabashedly]

[ her eyelashes flutter a little, in a shy kind of way, and she catches her hands on the lapels of his shirt. ]

We should... probably get out of the car before I give in to the urge to kiss you and forget about the beach entirely.

[grins and makes like he's leaning in... and then backs off at the last second]

If you insist.

[he's such a jerk!!!]

[ wow how dare you!!!

she laughs, though, and shoves him lightly by the shoulder before opening the door on her side. ]

Only if you make up for it later.

Hmm, you'd better hold me to that.

[gets out of the car and--wobbles, leaning on his cane heavily for a second, but recovers]

... still not used to that.

Oh, here, just—

[ striding over, takes his other arm in a steadying, protective sort of way. ]

[leans on her]

... thank you. I'm... mostly accustomed to this change now, but a few things... catch me off-guard.

Ahaha... I guess it probably is a lot to get used to. I've never really—tried being any different, for the most part.

[he stands on his own after a moment, and heads to the boardwalk]

I'll admit, I... hesitated, at first, but it doesn't feel bad. Unusual, I suppose. I don't think I'd want to stay like this permanently, but once in a while... would be alright.

You've got a lot to recommend you either way.

[ she tips her head slightly. ]

Do you think I'd make a handsome man? Maybe I should see what it's all about, sometime.

I think you would. But I'm very, very biased in your favor.

... do you think I make an attractive woman?

[ her hand moves to very lightly trace the curve of his side. ]

[shifts closer to her...]

...you didn't happen to get a tip about this, did you...?

I might have... heard something.

[wets his lips]

I'll not name names, though.

It was very thoughtful of him.

[ shifting to snag her arm around his waist, instead. ]

Maybe I'll have a surprise for you, sometime.

[oh no he's charmed and turning red now. presses closer, tilting his head to one side, biting his lip]

I'll look forward to... being surprised.

[ oh no something about that body language is really, really getting to her—

she tugs him in toward her, wrapping both her arms fully around his waist, an leans in to kiss him. ]

[his breath catches right as their lips meet, and he winds his arms around her neck, kissing back easily. it feels both familiar and unfamiliar, and he wants to explore that duality]

[ there's a subtlety to the way he's different, new softness in new places aside, and she can't make herself be shy about smoothing her hands up his sides, over his back, pressing herself in against him.

she presses in against him, testing his lips with her tongue. it's tender, but there's heat in it. ]

[he hums low in his throat and parts his lips so she can explore his mouth, body shifting under her touch. he can feel the heat radiating between them, as their bodies align in new ways]

[ she shifts a little, one hand cradling the back of his head and combing into his hair, the other ghosting over his front and settling just lightly over his chest, feeling out the changes.

just... a little squeeze, a little drag of her fingers, through the thin barrier of shirt fabric. ]
