The Very Last Memories

[ probably, at some point, shrike texted you to tell you she was going to take some memories in a quiet, low-traffic place.

maybe for some reason you happened to be over there anyway? if you got this link you can feel free to have just happened to be around for reasons of it's more fun. but.

she shuffles through a few relatively innocuous ones. Then there's one that gets her a little choked up—she, with some of her cohort under the Walker in Darkness, encounter a Raksha envoy—who happens to be Lark Sings at Dawn, who calls Shrike by her original name and when Shrike reflexively responds, her skin cracks open with renewed wounds from all her scars.

her allies quietly discuss if they should kill the envoy, whether it's worth starting shit with the Raksha (Crow is among them; he says absolutely worth), but meanwhile Shrike is losing her shit quietly inside over the fact that Lark is alive.

that night she goes to Lark and tells her that they have to run, but that they can do it together, and to never call her that name again—and Lark says yes.

that's clearly a lot, but she's still fishing for something, and—

ah. there.

there it is. ]
